Sliding Chain Locks

This type of lock might seem daunting to release, but do you know it’s possible and easy with the use of a rubber band?

A sliding chain lock is the last barrier from the outside, allowing you to push the door after all the other locks are bypassed. By opening the door as much as you can, you will be able to tie the rubber band to one end of the sliding lock.

From there, you only need to pull the rubber band down, towards the door handle. After that, you have to shut the door and open it again. The door handle will be the one to drag the sliding lock, releasing it out of its place.

Lever Handle Lock

Commonly used in securing mailboxes, office doors, and safes, a lever handle lock can be opened with a hook pick and tension wrench. The levers are in the upper keyhole. You can feel around using the hook pick to determine how many there are.

Once you’ve established the number of levers, you can insert the wrench in the lower keyhole and locate the notch in the bolt. It is where you need to set the tension wrench and start turning it according to the lock’s orientation.

When the bolt ceases turning, you can set the wrench to hold it in place then use the pick to push each lever upwards until you reach the one hardest to lift. In a slow and gradual motion, lift this particular lever until the bolt moves slightly. You will then know you have set the lever to the correct height for the bolt to slide through.

Deadbolt Lock

A deadbolt is frequently used to secure a house. It can only be opened through a key or a knob, resisting easy entry by force. But it is also possible to pry the deadbolt open through a tension wrench and a pick.

Insert the tension wrench in the bottom of the keyhole before turning it through steady pressure while keeping the pins from falling back. Next, you need to use the pick to push the pins up by inserting it in the upper part of the deadbolt keyhole.

The tension wrench will have to keep them up until you’ve lifted the last pin and the deadbolt opens.

File Cabinet Locks

You need a torque wrench and a pick to open most locks, but a file cabinet lock can be opened through improvisation.

Using a plier, bend a wire into a Z shape. Get a second wire to use as a pick, bending it to have an upward point on one end.

Place the torque wrench into the lock and apply a slight pressure. Then you have to insert the other wire which serves as the pick to push the tumblers up.

Do this until all the tumblers are pushed up and out of the cam of the lock. Only then can you use the wrench like a key to turn the cam and finally open the lock.
