The environment we spend our time in has a great impact on our moods and wellbeing, which is why a lot of people place so much importance on making our homes look good. They’re a reflection of our likes, dislikes, and our personality as a whole.

But it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Maybe you don’t know where to start, and maybe you don’t know what to do to make your room look artistic and to make it stand out from the rest  Afterall, the internet is full of generic interior decor advice that you may not really like.

If this sounds like you, we might have some ideas that you’d like.

1. Ceramic, Wooden, or Metal Sculptures

One of the best things that can give your room an artistic touch are artfully made sculptures. Figures made out of things like ceramic, wood, and metal can really lift a space up, but only if placed smartly.

High pieces won’t look good on side tables and on top of the fireplace, but they’ll make for stunning centerpieces on a coffee table. Try to buy bold pieces that stand out instead of getting something that will blend into the interior.

2. Paintings

There’s nothing more artistic than literal art, and you can go to Noble Portrait and countless other places online to get your hands on actual paintings that won’t break the bank. You can choose from a whole range of options and styles too – there’s bound to be something that goes with the rest of your place.

You can even buy prints of existing art pieces or posters straight from the online stores of some of your favorite artists. The possibilities are endless!

3. Photography

If there’s one thing that attracts the attention of someone in a room, it’s the pictures hanging on the wall. Show off parts of your personality and display what matters to you with the help of meaningful photos, and maybe experiment with mobile photography to show off the prints on the walls.

Don’t underestimate the importance of the picture frames and color schemes either – the last thing you want is for your walls to end up looking like an unplanned mishmash.

4. Glass Ornaments

Glass ornaments and decoration pieces come in all shapes and sizes, and you can find either tinted glass or clear glass on the market. Be it a hanging piece or a small tabletop ornament, these pieces will add character and personality to your room like nothing else.

Keep them out of the reach of children and animals, as these ornaments are extremely easy to break.

5. Texture Collages

Texture collages are simple to make but incredibly beautiful. If you use the right mediums, you can make them fit any theme – from that of a tropical paradise to a cool summer night, to fitting a modern aesthetic to even a softer cottagecore aesthetic.

The key is to be mindful of the colors and textures you’re choosing, and to go by some of the basic rules of texture collages – to always vary the texture. Use string, cardboard, cut-up magazines, and even crumpled newspaper and drawstring for some striking effects.
