If you’ve decided to go to Zurich then, you must choose your accommodation. Still, at the time being, there are several choices to choose from – the most popular ones being hotels or Airbnb. Airbnb is an app that has significantly grown in popularity over the last years. Most people choose this if they want to experience the city they’re visiting like a local. However, we’d like to briefly assess the pros and cons of each, so that you can make a decision accordingly.
Why Stay In a Hotel?
We would like to start with pointing out that when you choose to stay at a hotel, you usually go there for the amenities that are included in the price. You’re not paying only for the location and the comfort, but also for the service. We’re referring to the 24/7 check-in, the toiletries, housekeeping, and so on.
At the same time, all the amenities are at hand or, at the very least, they are easily accessible. On top of that, most hotels are situated in central locations – this might also be the case for Airbnb, but not necessarily.
Plus, hotels are situated in the proximity of bars, restaurant, conference rooms, so on and so forth. Therefore, they might be better suited for you if you’re traveling to Zurich for business meetings. In regards to accessibility, hotels might be better than Airbnb. The minute after reaching the airport, you can take a reliable Zurich airport transfer and arrive at the hotel in no time.
On a different note, staying at a hotel might be easier especially if you’re traveling with children. Regardless of what you need, you can contact the hotel’s staff and get assistance on the spot, which cannot be said in the case of Airbnb of course.
Nonetheless, the major con with staying at a hotel is, of course, the cost. All these benefits come for an additional cost. So, if you’re traveling on a budget, the odds are you’ll have to pay a significant sum to stay at a hotel in Zurich.
Why Choose Airbnb?
On the other hand, Airbnb comes with other advantages. It gives you the opportunity of experiencing Zurich from the perspective of a local. This is especially convenient if you’re traveling with a group of friends, as you can divide the costs and, in this way, save money.
At the same time, when you choose Airbnb, you will have a larger space at your disposal, usually a kitchen, perhaps a terrace, so on and so forth, depending on the place you choose. Of course, the location may also vary, in the sense that you can rent a place either in the center of the city or in the outskirts, as you wish.
The downside, however, is that you don’t benefit from the convenience linked with hotels
So, which one’s going to be? A hotel or Airbnb? You alone can make the decision, depending on your budget and your traveling preferences.
